Above the curve!
Candice Huffine is the newest signee to join Curve, the plus-size division of IMG Models, WWD reports. Huffine, 31, joins other IMG notables such as Ashley Graham and Zach Miko, the world’s first plus-size male model on IMG’s Brawn.
Huffine comes to IMG with plenty of experience: According to WWD, she received her big break in an editorial feature in V magazine called “Curves Ahead” and has since appeared in “Vogue Italia … W, CR Fashion Book, American Vogue … i-D and S Moda.”
She was also featured in Lane Bryant’s “I’m No Angel” and “Plus Is Equal” ads, not-so-veiled swipes at Victoria’s Secret and other brands that prioritize smaller silhouettes.
The size-12 stunner once told Into the Gloss that she’s living her dream. She’s “always wanted to model” and was even signed to Wilhelmina and Muse NY.
“When I came up originally for open calls, I was going to just regular agencies because I didn’t realize that I wouldn’t be able to fit in,” she recalled. “There are two different options. There was a lot of ‘Can you drop some sizes?’”
But once buzz picked up — and mindsets expanded — she finally found her fit in the industry. Being cast for Vogue Italia “had other people in the industry perk up a bit and say, ‘Why don’t we try this too?’” she explained. “It was what got the ball rolling … I’ve always been available and skilled and knowing that you’re able to do all these things, but you’re like, ‘Just put me in, Coach! I want to show you!’’’
