Taking the accent braid to the next level! Blink and you might have missed Cara Delevingne‘s insanely cool mini-braid on the red carpet at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards on Saturday, April 9, in Burbank, California.
The Suicide Squad star, 23, rocked an amazing accent braid, which started at the back of her part, then worked its way down the front before snaking behind one ear. (All the better to show off those miniature star tattoos.) Celeb hairstylist Mara Roszak shared a close-up of the style via Instagram and captioned it with the simplest of tutorials: “Part it✔️Braid it ✔️ I like it✔️.”

“We wanted Cara’s hair down for an effortless kind of look, but because it’s Cara we wanted to do something a little fun to match her personality,” Roszak told Us Weekly. “Her outfit had some edge to it, so the braid added a hint of interest and dimension to help round out the total look.”
After washing and curling Delevingne’s hair, the L’Oréal Paris celebrity stylist, who also works with Emma Stone, Brie Larson and Lily Collins, took about a 1/2-inch of the model’s hair from the crown and the layer underneath. She applied L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle TXT-IT Hyper-Fix Putty and a few spritzes of L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray to make sure the hair stayed tight, then braided the piece.
Roszak pulled the braid forward along the part, securing it in place using tiny bobby pins the same color as Delevingne’s hair. She curved the braid around the side of her head, tucked it behind one ear and secured with a small invisible elastic band.

Delevingne teamed her rocker-chic ‘do with peach cheeks, shimmering eyes and a statement lip. “Delevingne wore an incredibly tailored suit by Balmain, so my goal was for her skin to reign and her eyes to pop while rocking a modern lip that separated her from the rest,” celeb makeup artist Molly R. Stern told Us.
That lip color, by the way, is Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Stripped ($16, Ulta stores).

As Stern noted, Delevingne also modeled a Balmain suit with a sheer-paneled jacket, paired with gold baubles and Jimmy Choo pumps.
