When it comes to red carpet fashion, Cate Blanchett is as fearless as they come. The two-time Oscar winner consistently tops best dressed lists whether she's wearing a ball gown, structured dress, or a draped look.
While the designer duds are striking on their own, the secret to the Blue Jasmine star's style success doesn't come on a hanger. "She's one of those people who can carry anything, and it's from an innate confidence," Blanchett's longtime stylist Elizabeth Stewart tells Us Weekly. "She really does know what works and what works for her."
Blanchett's long and lean frame lends itself to just about any silhouette, but the Australian actress will only wear styles that she feels a connection to. "She wouldn't wear anything she doesn't love," Stewart tells Us. "I learned the hard way from working with actresses to not push them into something that I love. And that wouldn't be possible with Cate."
Women everywhere can take a cue from Blanchett when it comes to choosing their own outfits — no red carpet required. "Cate's a great model," says Stewart, who has partnered with Marshalls on a campaign to help women look and feel more confident. "She knows what looks good on her so, so well and can make instant decisions."
The power celeb stylist, who also counts Sandra Bullock and Julia Roberts as clients, advises looking at red carpets for inspiration. "Find a celebrity model that you think has your body type and your style and emulate them," she tells Us. "Use the red carpet as an example of how to apply it to your daily life."
Otherwise, adopt a uniform a la Kate Middleton's blazer and navy jeans combo. "I wear the same thing every day but in endless variations," Stewart says of her loose top, knee-length skirt, and mid-high heels. "So find your own uniform that looks good on you and get a lot of it."
