Chelsea Clinton wanted to make sure the flowers at her weekend wedding to Marc Mezvinsky fit in with the outdoor setting in which she said "I Do."

"The space was amazing… right on the Hudson River," florist Jeff Leatham tells UsMagazine.com of Astor Courts, where the couple of about five years wed Saturday night. "It was very important [to Chelsea] to keep it organic and natural…The theme, floral wise, was organic, clean, simple and elegant."

On that note, "The chuppah matched the garden and trees so it wasn't out of place. It needed to look like it just happened there naturally," says Leatham of the traditional canopy under which the couple said their vows in the interfaith ceremony. (Clinton is Methodist; Mezvinsky is Jewish.)

"The bride's bouquet was a beautiful, clean, simple ball of Gardenias. The men had Freesia boutonnières," continues Leatham. Clinton also donned a strapless Vera Wang gown, Mezvinsky opted for a Burberry suit. "The only fragrant flowers were in the bridal party."

Leatham — who designed flowers for the ceremony, reception and afterparty — tells Us, "It was such a honor to be involved in Chelsea and Marc's day. Everyone could not have been more kind… When we saw the photos and the look on Chelsea's face, it was absolutely worth it. It was such an honor."
