Mama bear on the loose! Cindy Crawford covers the latest issue of The Edit magazine, clad in a semi-sheer lace jumpsuit. And while the 49-year-old supermodel is sizzling in the spread, per usual, she also gets deep about her worries for her budding model daughter, Kaia Gerber.
"Today, models are expected to be so tiny, and I worry about that for her, because that was never my natural body type and I don't think it'll be hers either," Crawford, who shares Kaia, 14, and son Presley, 16, with husband Rande Gerber, said. "Still, I'll say to her, 'Enjoy carbs while you can!'"
The Becoming author also admitted that having a famous mom is probably not easy. "Kaia's blossoming into such a beautiful young woman and I really want to let her shine. I don’t want her to feel in competition with me." That said, Crawford added, "I'll tease her and say, 'You have my old hair — give it back!' Or, 'Give me back my legs!'"
But Illinois-born Crawford also said that Kaia, who's already modeled for Versace and has a deal with IMG Models, has the advantage: "She's much more together and worldly than I was at her age."
As for the other aspiring models of the world, Crawford dished some advice to them, too. "They had better learn to sing and act…because it's not really enough to just be a model anymore," she shared. "…Now they want stars like Kendall Jenner and Taylor Swift. They want people with a following, and social media has helped because models like Cara [Delevingne], Coco [Rocha], and Gigi [Hadid] can have their own voices and talk to fans directly. There are more pathways available to them than we had."
