Would you describe yourself as beautiful? Or just average?
For its latest #ChooseBeautiful campaign, Dove asked women around the world just that. The beauty brand set up two entryways with navy blue signs that read “average” and “beautiful” in different languages in San Francisco, Shanghai, Delhi, London, and San Paolo. As women approached the buildings, they had to choose between the options — and the results will surprise you.
“It was my choice and now I will question myself for the next few weeks or maybe months,” one woman said in the video, released on Tuesday, April 7. One by one, we see women pass over the “beautiful” doorway, instead opting for the “average” route.
“I went through the average door,” another said. “I didn’t even hesitate.”
The women in the video were not alone in their decisions: a staggering 96 percent of women chose”average” according to a new Dove survey.
“Dove Choose Beautiful urges women to embrace this personal choice,” said Jennifer Bremner, Director of Marketing for Dove, in a statement. “Because when we do, it unlocks happiness and confidence that impacts women’s self-esteem.”
