Redheaded rebound? Emma Stone's locks are back to their signature red after The Amazing Spider-Man 2 actress went blonde to reprise her role in the action-packed comic book sequel. Stone, 24, and on-and-off-screen boyfriend Andrew Garfield strolled around New York City on Tuesday, June 25, with Stone's bright red hair turning heads.
The spunky actress, who will play Peter Parker's (Garfield) girlfriend Gwen Stacy in the upcoming flick, ditched her trademark tresses earlier this year to look as close to the comic book character as possible.
"We worked together to make sure that Gwen felt like Gwen, but also made sense in the real world," Stone has said of her on-screen transformation. "And I'm a lot less voluptuous than Gwen, unfortunately, so it didn't really go to those heights."
"I'm by no means a supermodel or an unattainable looking person, so that element of Gwen was a bit different because she was such a beauty queen in the comic books," she continued. "I'm more 'next door' than she might be. So that, we worked on."
Stone previously opened up to BellaSugar about loving her red hair, telling the site that she first started coloring her naturally blonde hair when she was trying out for Judd Apatow's Superbad.
"I had been blond my whole life and I dyed it brown when I was 15," she explained. "Then when I went to the camera test for Superbad, Martha MacIssac, who was the other girl in the movie, had brown hair. Judd Apatow walked in and said, 'Make it red.' So they took me to a colorist and made my hair red."
"My mom's a redhead. I think maybe there's that, too," she added. "The coloring and the association with my mom being a redhead. I really liked that."
