America's sweetheart Reese Witherspoon, best-known for her reserved elegance, stepped out on the How Do You Know red carpet Monday night looking quite the vixen with sexy, smoldering eyes. I loved the combination of dramatic black liner and soft nude lips (and any time a hard working mom of two wears unexpected makeup)!
Witherspoon's makeup artist, the fabulous Molly Stern, tells UsMagazine.com the look was inspired by the star's glam Zac Posen dress. The frock was decorated in mauve feathers, yet had an edge with it's delicate chain detail. "I wanted Reese's makeup to reflect the symbiotic contrast of elegance and rock 'n' roll," Stern says.
To create the look, Stern enhanced Witherspoon's skin with a light foundation, then applied a mocha blush "to give her cheeks a glow with a depth the tone," Stern says.
The star feature of the look, Witherspoon's bright blue eyes, were made up by layering black-tones: First, charcoal shadow was brushed on lids, then a shimmering black eyeliner was applied on top, followed by black kohl along lashlines.
Finally, a few coats of black mascara were applied to lashes. On lips, Stern chose a nude lipstick and gloss combo, coating the center of her bottom lip with an additional touch of gloss "to give light something to bounce off of," Stern tells Us.
