Can’t wait to see what the stars will wear to the Grammys on Sunday, Jan. 26? Neither can we; that’s why we enlisted celebrity designer and Project Runway Season 2 alum Nick Verreos to share his expert opinion on what the top nominated singers will wear.
"Celebrities and music artists take risks at the Grammys more than any other awards show,"Verreos, a mentor on the new Project Runway spinoff, Under the Gunn, tells Us Weekly. "With that being said, the Grammys red carpet has also become more elegant. You see more couture gowns that you would normally have seen at the Emmys or even the Academy Awards. But it's still fun to see some stars just go cray-cray with their couture."
"Katy Perry can go glamorous, and she can go fun and sexy as well. I think she can mix a bit of both in the gown, and I'd love to see her wear this pick from Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad from his Fall 2013 Haute Couture collection. It’s on-trend with the golden-nude coloring and the unusual–branch-like sequins add a bit of goth to it."
"Taylor Swift never met a fitted sequin gown she didn't like, so for the big night of the Grammys, I think she would look divine in one of my creations from my high-end line, Nikolaki. I chose this light orchid-colored sequined column gown with asymmetrical detailing at the top. It's sexy but not vulgar. It's elegant, directional and packs a great glam punch!"
"I think Rihanna should do a 360 from what she wore last year and show up in this black super skinny pant ensemble from French couturier Alexandre Vauthier’s Spring 2013 Couture collection. It's very "Robert Palmer Girl" for 2014."
"Pink has an amazing, athletic body, and I would love to see her in a dress like this one from Roberto Cavalli Spring 2014. The gown has many sheer panels juxtaposed with sequined lace. It gives a hint of the fabulous body that is underneath."
