Flower power perfection!
Famous floral designer Eric Buterbaugh is now setting his sights on fragrances, and to help, he brought along three of his (gorg!) longtime celeb clients and close friends to celebrate — Gwyneth Paltrow, Demi Moore, and Nicole Richie! The foursome are featured in the March 2015 issue of Harper's Bazaar, with the actresses draped in colorful rose headdresses.
The ladies all shared their most memorable Buterbaugh experiences as they posed in both a group and glamorous solo shot. For Paltrow, previously giving one of his bouquets to a friend has made a lasting impression.
"It was white roses, but roses on roses on roses — basically a plate of roses balanced on this tiny vase that defied the laws of balance and physics," the 42-year-old explains. "I just thought: 'This is so above anything I've ever seen. It's art.' Eric is very economical in terms of the beauty he creates with his flowers. It can be over-the-top, but just the perfect amount. And he's like that as a person too."
The Mortdecai star looked fresh for her close-up as she wore a large pink and white rose headpiece. Perfect with her complexion, the bouquet came with pink satin ribbons, which matched perfectly with her floral Alexander McQueen.
For Moore, Buterbaugh's friendship seems to be just as beautiful as his designs. The pair first met at a mutual friend's birthday party in 2002. "In those days I used to carry around with me a small, hard cooler full of Red Bull and I smoked Marlboro Reds. So as I was waiting by myself for my car to come, sitting on my little cooler, Eric looked over at me and said, 'I like you, because you're just not right.' And we've been best friends ever since," Moore, 52, recalls to the mag.
"We've shared a lot, but I don't think there's ever been a time when I haven't wanted to have Eric with me," she adds. "Whether we're in palaces in Asia or pajamas in Idaho watching Downton Abbey, he's the same guy."
Moore's ageless face also hasn't changed. The Wild Oats star wore a cranberry-colored lipstick to coordinate with her fuchsia pedals in her photo. Her structural flower hat also included a touch of black to match her dark locks and eye makeup.
Richie, 33, looked ready for Valentine's Day for her moment in front of the camera, as she donned a flower print Simone Rocha dress and covered her head with a rose-petal-covered helmet. In another shot, Richie joined Paltrow, Moore, and Buterbaugh as they stood next to a tower of roses. The ladies coordinated in red-and-black Dolce & Gabbana outfits: Paltrow in a dress, Richie in a sheer long skirt, and Moore in a shawl.
"He has a true appreciation of beauty — and I don't mean that in a superficial way," Richie tells the mag. "Every time he walks into a room with his boots, I know that we are going to have more fun than Nancy Sinatra."
Indeed, during the photo shoot, Richie even teased about where she often was asked to stand in comparison to Paltrow and Moore. She quipped: "Why am I always in the back?"
