One magical makeover!

During her whirlwind press tour for the final installment of the Harry Potter film franchise last month, Emma Watson often donned more than one dress in the same day, changing from an embellished minidress to a major ball gown. And she made sure her makeup got an equally dramatic upgrade.

For an appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman in New York City on July 11, the 21-year-old actress looked "fresh, pretty and light," says makeup pro Dotti, who worked with the Lancome spokesmodel. To get her daytime effect:

After lining inner lids with a black pencil, "dust on lilac shadow," says Dotti. Top it off with three coats of mascara. Try Nars Matte Eyeshadow in D. Gorgeous ($23, narscosmetics.com) and Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes Mascara in So Black ($25, lancome-usa.com). Dab liquid highlighter along cheekbones, then brush apricot blush below the apples of the cheeks. Finish with a nude lipstick.

Later that evening, the actress revved up her look for the movie's red carpet premiere. "The gold shadow added an elegant edge to the smoky eyes," explains Dotti. To get her nighttime effect:

Define lash lines with a black pencil. "Blend black eye shadow up to the creases," says Dotti. "Use a brush to add gold glitter shadow to inner and outer corners." Try Make Up Forever Diamond Powder in Gold ($24, sephora.com) and Lancome All-In-One 5 Shadow & Liner Palette in Golden Frenzy ($48, lancome-usa.com). Up the drama by dabbing a rose-colored cream blush on the apples of the cheeks. Keep lips neutral so the focus stays on the eyes.
