Plot twist! Jaden Smith was announced as the new face of Louis Vuitton, but he won't be starring in the menswear campaign. Instead, as revealed on Saturday, January 2, he is fronting the womenswear collection in the spring/summer 2016 ads.
For Smith, 17, who has been known to wear dresses as part of his trademark androgynous style, the embroidered skirt he models in the series of pictures (alongside models Sarah Brannon, Rianne Van Rompaey and Jean Campbell) doesn't seem that out of place.
The son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith took to Instagram to show his excitement over the news. "Thank You So Much @louisvuitton And @nicolasghesquiere For The Opportunity To Impact This World," he said, shouting out to the artistic director of the fashion house, Nicolas Ghesquiere, in his typical title-capitalization writing style.
Ghesquiere thanked Smith for being a part of the campaign personally on his own account. "Happy to introduce Jaden Smith @christiangrey in the new SS16 @louisvuitton ad Campaign photographed by Bruce Weber," he wrote on January 3.
