Snip, snip, gasp!
Jared Leto took to Instagram on Monday, March 2, to unveil some very dramatic news to fans: He cut his lush ombre locks and shaved his flawless beard!
Leto, 43, whose impeccable mane is just as famous as his acting and musical chops, shared a black and white salon snap, featuring a pair of scissor-armed hands held up to his ponytail, ready to clip.
“I miss my beard already,” the Dallas Buyers Club actor captioned the artsy shot, cluing Us in to the fact that he not only trimmed his tresses, but also clipped his facial hair.

Unsurprisingly, he fans were devastated by the photo. “Nooooooo oh noooooo,” wrote @pinagap. “I saw him give a post-oscar interview where he said the bun had to go soon. I was hoping he was joking,” @gemmullen lamented. And @rtjones simply stated, “I’m devastated.”
Nevertheless, Leto did tease the cut via Instagram on Feb. 28, when he posted a shot of himself with his signature mess of waves, captioned, “Going going… #?”
While Leto has mostly stayed mum on the chop, his Suicide Squad director, David Ayer, explained with a tweet that it’s for his role as The Joker in the 2016 film. “Should we?” he wrote alongside the same picture. (Apparently, we didn’t shout “No!” loud enough.)
Once the cut was complete, Ayer tweeted a second shot, this one featuring the actor with the dark, short ‘do he’ll rock as the DC Comics supervillain alongside Margot Robbie and Will Smith.
