Old Hollywood glam. Edgy fashionista. Slutty power lesbian. Wait, what? The latter is just how Jennifer Lawrence describes her style.
“That is literally what I say to a stylist,” she told Glamour for the February issue. “I don’t know if that’s offensive.”
But she’s quick to say that her red carpet looks don’t always have that vibe. “So you don’t see me as a slutty power lesbian on the red carpet a lot, because I’m embodying the Dior woman, which is an honor,” the Golden Globe nominee for Joy, 25, who functions as the label’s brand ambassador, explained. “Dior is feminine and beautiful.”
Her street style is a different story. Lawrence wanted to refine her more casual looks as an expression of her identity. “It was like, if I don’t start getting an opinion, I’m just gonna be like a puppet that’s being dressed by everybody else,” she told the mag.
And, now that she has a say in her choices, all of the Oscar-winning actress’ outfits are the result of knowing the strengths and weaknesses of her own body. “I’ve got tits and an ass. And there are things that are made for skinny people — like a lot of embroidery, or it covers a lot — and those make me look fat,” she said. “I have to show the lumps. If you have boobs, you have to show, like, ‘These are boobs. This isn’t cellulite.’ Not that there’s anything wrong with that.”
