Ten albums and going strong!
Jennifer Lopez is going all out for the music videos for her new album, A.K.A. We’ve already seen the flashback style in “I Luh Ya Papi,” and an album video trailer released on June 16 gives glimpses of even more of her looks.
Celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin created the looks and has shared the easy how-tos exclusively with Us Weekly. Read on to find out how to recreate Lopez’s street-chic style from “Booty,” “Worry No More,” and “Emotions.”
Half-Up, Half-Down in “Booty”
“I have always loved J.Lo’s half-up, half-down ponytails,” Atkin tells Us. “It’s a look that is sexy and feminine and easy to get at home.” First, flat-iron day-old dirty hair. Then, using a hairbrush, brush hair from the temples to the crown into a smooth ponytail. Set the look (and control fly-aways) with hairspray.
Waves in “Worry No More”
“I love getting to collaborate with J.Lo’s styling team, Rob and Mariel, and they pulled this great headpiece for her to wear for this video,” Atkin, who also works with Jessica Alba and Khloe Kardashian, tells Us. “I loved the softness the beaded hood added, but thought doing a modern, undone wave would go great with it.” To get a similar look, create waves with a flat-iron, making sure the ends are straight. “Finish with your favorite dry shampoo to give your hair great grit and texture,” she says.
Hat Hair in “Emotions”
“I loved the bold lip that J.Lo’s makeup artist, Mary Phillips, created for this look,” Atkin says. To complement the statement makeup, Atkin kept her hair soft. Blow dry damp hair with a large round brush for volume. Add waves with a large-barreled curling iron and rake through the curls with your fingers. Then add a bright lip color and a baseball cap of your choice.
