Darden started boosting her celebrity clientele six years ago and she approaches every each skin care situation differently. Darden’s top piece of advice? SPF. “I tell my clients to wear sunscreen every day and stay out of the sun,” she told Us. “Sun damage is so hard to reverse and it ages your skin.”

But before you do anything, Darden advises to take stock of the beauty goods that currently reside in your medicine cabinet. “The best way to keep your skin clear and glowing is to make sure you are using the right products for your skin type,” she told Us. “If you have oily skin and you’re congested all the time, it may be that your moisturizer is too heavy.”

Along with using the right products, Darden says the key to great skin is what you put into your diet. “It’s important to stay away from processed foods. Eating clean can make such a difference in how your skin looks,” she said.

However, if the thought of going on a vegetable-based diet freaks you out, try eliminating some foods like dairy, to find the source of acne flare-ups. “Dairy can cause cystic acne for many people,” she said. “If you are having a problem with acne take it out of your diet for two weeks and see if your skins starts to clear up.”
