You're about to have honest-to-goodness flawless tresses! Jessica Alba just announced that her Honest Beauty line is launching its first collection of haircare products.
The Mechanic actress, 35, revealed the exciting news via her own Instagram account on Friday, August 19. "It's a big day for @honest_beauty – Haircare is here!" she captioned a stunning photo of herself with glossy, voluminous curls. "We've been working on this line for years. Breakthrough botanicals + pro hair formulas. I know you're going to love it as much as I do! ❤️ Link in bio! ✨💁 #honestbeauty."
The mom of two daughters (shared with her husband of eight years, Cash Warren) followed that up with facts about the ingredients used in the 11-piece collection: "Our pro line features breakthrough botanicals — think coconut juice, white tea and algae extracts — and advanced formulations that are made with clean ingredients that work."
The Dark Angel alum tells Us Weekly that she once had such a bad haircare experience, it sent her to the hospital. "I had such a bad reaction a couple of years ago from [a dry shampoo/hairspray combo] that I had to go to the emergency room," Alba tells Us. "I had to go on antibiotics, my vision was impaired for almost a week — it was horrible. It was the worst feeling and so painful."
And she feels all of that could have been avoided with a little transparency. "[Other companies] use so many ingredients making their products, and [many] aren't even listed," the actress, who famously has extremely sensitive skin, explains.
That's why the Honest Beauty haircare line — which will be fronted by Alba's celeb hairstylist Jennifer Yepez — is unique. "What goes into our hair is equally important as what goes on our skin," Alba tells Us. "[What makes these formulas different] is everything we don't put in the product. There are thousands of ingredients that [Honest] doesn't use that conventional haircare lines do."
And the best part? Because everything is clean, it smells delicious. "The main ingredient in the [Beyond Hydrated] line is coconut juice, which is full of moisture and smells like heaven," the Sin City actress says. In fact, Alba tells Us that each line — Beyond Hydrated (for normal to dry hair), Truly Restored (for dry, damaged hair) and the styling products (for all hair types) — was scented to smell like one of her favorite vacation locales, including Mexico, where she jets annually with her family. As she puts it, "When you're at work every day, it's nice to get that little bit of vacation!"
