The Shoe Oscars are back, y’all, and guess who scored the top honors? None other than Mr. Kanye West himself!
The 38-year-old rapper and designer’s Adidas Yeezy Boost has been named the “Shoe of the Year” by Footwear News. West is expected to pick up his statuette at the mag’s 29th annual FN Achievement Awards, which will be held in NYC on Dec. 2.
“From the moment photos started to leak last spring showing [the new Yeezys], the knitted laceup sneaker has been the most-coveted, most-talked-about, most-recognized (and in some cases most-expensive) footwear item of the year,” the trade magazine’s writers shared in a release.
Fans went crazy when West first unveiled the Boost 350’s earlier this year, lining up for days for the chance to purchase a pair. He then revealed beige Boosts at the MTV VMAs this past August, which will be released just in time for the holidays. (Smart man.)
Surely, it doesn’t hurt that he the best advertisement: His family, including wife Kim Kardashian, sister-in-laws Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and even Kendall’s model BFF Gigi Hadid, have been wearing the sneaks on their various adventures around the world.
