We never thought Kate Bosworth would ever depart from her signature hairstyle of long, beach waves, but times are changing.
Ahead of her big red carpet appearance for Still Alice on Tuesday, Jan. 13, in New York City, Bosworth's go-to celebrity hairstylist Harry Josh teased a suspicious shot of a newly chopped blonde mane on his Instagram page.
"Ok people I just cut literally a foot off a mystery actress!" he captioned the picture of Bosworth, 32. "It will be revealed tonight on the red carpet tonight! Everyone guess who!! #lovemyjob #grateful"
But the threat of the paparazzi spoiling the surprise forced Josh to reveal his muse a short time later: "Sorry folks couldn't wait for the reveal tonight, too many paps chasing her around! so here it is the stunning @katebosworth hair by me makeup by @hungvanngo."
The textured haircut was created for Bosworth's upcoming role in 90 Minutes in Heaven, a film directed by her husband Michael Polish.
To get her modern and sleek do for the premiere, he sprayed John Frieda's Luxurious Volume Fine to Full Blow-Out Spray on wet hair. Using a round brush, he then dried the hair with Harry Josh Pro Tools Dryer 2000. Next, he pinned up each section to set and finally let her hair down from the pins and molded it with his fingers.
The classic hairstyle was the perfect complement to her breathtaking Oscar de la Renta pale blue gown that featured a crisscross bodice of decadent jewels. She completed her elegant look with a pair of silver Stuart Weitzman heels and a matching clutch.
