This model is getting married! Fan-favorite model Kate Upton is engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Justin Verlander, and debuted her new engagement ring on the red carpet of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala in NYC, on Monday, May 2.
Upton’s rep confirmed the news to Us Weekly on Monday night, after the model stepped out for the star-studded affair with her brand-new bling.
Upton showed a teeny sliver of her ring ahead of the Met Gala on Monday, when she posted a pic of herself prepping for the annual star-studded soiree. “On my way to the Met,” the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model, 23, wrote, alongside a photo of herself at home with her pet boxer. “@topshop @peterbutlerhair @tracymurphymua @sweetbabyjamie.” Barely noticeable on Upton’s left ring finger was the diamond ring from Verlander.
The Other Woman actress flaunted the mega sparkler outside of the black-tie affair on Monday night. She was photographed walking out of the Bowery Hotel in the East Village, gently holding the train of her Topshop gown with the rock on her ring finger.
E! News was first to confirm on Monday that Upton and the Detroit Tigers pitcher, 33, are engaged. The stars have been on-again and off-again couple for the last three years, and inseparable since they last reunited in January 2014.
At the time, Us Weekly was first to confirm that the two were back together again after reuniting in the Bahamas. The future spouses first met while shooting a commercial for MLB 2K12 in 2012.
At an event this past March, Upton joked with Us Weekly that her her man gets along great with another special boy in her life.
“My boxer went to the field with Justin and saw this basket of baseballs and he was literally in heaven and now he has a baseball obsession,” Upton, 23, told Us Weekly the Grand Slam Adoption Event at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, Florida, on March 31. “He also will only let Justin throw the balls to him — apparently he only wants a professional pitcher to play catch with him. I’m not good enough. Even if I throw the ball, he’ll bring it back to Justin and be like, ‘She’s sweet for trying, but can you throw it now?'”
