No biggie. Kate Upton’s gorgeous new engagement ring from fiancé Justin Verlander might have cost him a big chunk of change. Mark Keeney, vice president of marketing for fine jewelry company Ritani, evaluated the diamond ring and estimates that it could be worth close to $1.5 million.
The jeweler said in a statement to Us Weekly that Upton’s ring — which she debuted at the 2016 Met Gala in New York on Monday, May 2 — appears to be a round 8-carat diamond “set in a six prong setting with even more diamonds throughout.”
Upton’s rep confirmed to Us on Monday that the Sports Illustrated model, 23, and Detroit Tigers pitcher, 33, are indeed engaged. The pair have been dating for the last three years.

During an interview with E! News at the fashion event of the year, Upton flashed her rock while revealing that Verlander proposed some time ago.
“I’m really excited. He asked me right before the season started so we’ve been keeping it on the down low for quite a while. … I’m excited to finally be able to share it with the world,” The Other Woman actress said, adding that they’ve yet to plan a wedding date and are “enjoying the engagement period.”
