Look back at it! Katie Holmes stunned in a midnight-blue dress with a surprising back at the Touched With Fire premiere in NYC on Wednesday, February 10.
Holmes, 37, who plays a poet named Carla in the movie, worked the Zac Posen design from every angle, including its draped front and asymmetrical open back. The dress also boasted a small train that flowed behind the Dawson’s Creek alum as she walked the carpet with her date, Posen himself.

Keeping the focus on the gown’s fresh cut, Holmes, who shares 9-year-old daughter Suri with ex-husband Tom Cruise, opted for a slicked-back hairstyle, understated eye makeup and a posie-pink lip shade.

Posen wasn’t Holmes’ only date at the event. The actress’ mom, Kathleen, and two of her three sisters joined her on the red carpet, where they posed for photos. Sharing one of those shots via Instagram, Holmes wrote, “So very grateful to have my beautiful mom and sisters with me tonight. My heart is full.”
On the carpet, Holmes confessed that the film, about two manic-depressive poets who fall in love, was quite the challenge to make. “All of it was hard because it’s something I didn’t know before,” she told Us Weekly. “I didn’t know much about it.”
But she added, “We all worked very hard, everyone on this cast and crew, and we wanted to create something authentic because we realized it could reach a lot of people and hopefully help people in some way.”
