Long hair, don’t care!
Katie Holmes forced a double-take when she hit the red carpet for the 2015 Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 11. In a hairstyle that was neither her go-to loose waves or messy bun, the Giver actress, 36, pulled together an adventurous look with long and sleek hair extensions.
The daring clip-ins were not added for volume-boosting purposes, rather they were used to achieve a length that could even make Rapunzel a little jealous.
Celebrity hairstylist DJ Quintero of Alterna Haircare applied a small amount of the Alterna Haircare Cavaiar Seasilk Oil Gel ($28) and the Alterna Haircare Caviar Anti-Aging Omega (+) Nourishing Oil ($38), and then used a large round brush to blow-dry her hair into the bone-straight style. Holmes’ hair was then placed into a neat side pony with a hair tie.
In a surprising move for a major red carpet, the A-lister skipped out on the blingy accessories and let her eggplant Marchesa gown do most of the talking.
The ponytail looks continued on with stars like Chrissy Teigen (who tried a wavy look) and Lorde (in a slicked-back version.) After Teigen’s hair was prepped with Macadamia Professional Foaming Volumizer by celebrity hairstylist Giannandrea, it was curled into waves with a 1-inch iron, and then tossed into a high ponytail that was left a little loose on top to create more volume. The hairstyle made her blonder highlights gleam on the red carpet.
The “Royals” singer kept up with Holmes’ lengthened ponytail thanks to the hair-protecting Wella Professionals LuxeOil Elixir and a flatiron. Celebrity hairstylist Gavin Harwin then pulled her strands tightly into a ponytail at the nape of the neck and secured with an elastic. “Taking the idea of a bound horse’s tail, I wanted to make the most of all the hair Lorde has while keeping it cool and modern,” he told Us Weekly.
