Models without makeup!
The week of glamorous head-to-toe runway looks, and fabulously styled celebs in the front row, came to a surprising end at Marc Jacobs fashion show on Thursday, Sept. 11. Budding high-fashion model Kendall Jenner, along with Karlie Kloss, Joan Smalls, and Adriana Lima hit the runway sans an ounce of makeup. That’s right – no concealer to hide the partying and sleep deprivation, no mascara to make the eyes pop, and not a slick of lipstick, gloss or balm was seen on the runway.
Francois Nars, the founder of NARS cosmetics and the man behind the dramatic make-unders, told New York Magazine’s The Cut, that the idea was entirely the designer’s doing.
“Marc said, ‘I feel like maybe they shouldn’t have much makeup,’ and I went along and said, ‘Maybe they should not have any makeup at all,” the makeup artist explained.
While it was somewhat of a shock to see the beauty girls get de-glammed, their natural beauty stood up to the test.
Rounding out the understated look, the models were styled in shaggy black wigs. The Spring 2015 collection bore resemblance to 1920s military uniforms in an army green, khaki, and blue color palette.
