Everywhere you look, there she is! Kim Kardashian stepped out once more in her new favorite piece — her “selfie jacket” — while visiting the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in L.A. on Saturday, April 2.
The mom of North, 2, and Saint, 3 months, rocked the custom Blue Blank leather topper featuring black-and-white images of the star’s face. She complemented the statement piece with a black tank, distressed jeans, Saint Laurent sunglasses, a slim ribbon choker and a pair of her beloved ankle-strap sandals.
Kardashian has worn the jacket out on multiple cases. Plus, she’s made Blue Blank an insta-famous name, shouting out the label, designed by Clara Chon, as a “sick bespoke brand in New Zealand” via her website and app.
So how exactly did the partnership come about? Chon explained that Kardashian’s jacket was inspired by one she made just like it, only featuring Drake‘s face. “Kanye [West] had my jacket on his mood board and then [stylists Dylan Richards and Sebastian Hunt] saw it and thought it would be cool to get one made for Kim,” she told Complex magazine.
She continued, “They messaged me and were like, ‘Okay, we’re going to tell you something: We want to commission a piece for Kim from you. I was like, ‘Whaaat! Can I Facebook about it?!’ And they were like, ‘No f—king way!'”
After that, Chon spent weeks working nonstop on the coat, a vintage find she picked up in Belgium. She chose the selfies from Kardashian’s Instagram page, and added the words “chill” and “slay,” straight from Kardashian’s Kimojis, on the arms. “Those words seemed like an apt summary of her social media presence,” Chon said.
