Kim Kardashian‘s naked selfie from March 7 garnered a spectrum of reactions, from support to criticism. But the most lucrative response was the surprising uptick in online queries for black bandeaus.
In the two days following Kardashian’s post on Instagram, searches for the term went up 406 percent worldwide, according to ecommerce site Lyst (via Elle).
However, the hype might not only be attributed to Kardashian, 35. Her half-sisters, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, may have had some influence as well. The younger two Keeping Up With the Kardashians stars both seemingly sported black crop tops in solidarity with the Selfish author following the controversy. Kendall rocked a black bralette crop top while out and about in Paris on Wednesday, March 9, and Kylie sizzled in a black strapless bikini that basically copied the infamous pic on the same day.
The spike in searches on Lyst made the black bandeau the platform’s top trending product in the United States. The most-viewed styles came from fashion brands Lisa Marie Fernandez, AllSaints, ASOS, Onia and La Perla.
