They must have nerves—and nerve endings—of steel!
Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week is nearly wrapped, but there’s one style trend that is begging for discussion: underdressing in the freezing NYC weather.
Despite temperatures that dropped below 20 degrees some days this past week, celebs like Kristin Cavallari, Jamie Chung, Chrissy Teigen, and more stepped out in the Big Apple wearing barely there clothing.
Yes, it’s true—celebs have personal drivers that wheel them right up to the tents at fashion week, so they’re always steps away from warmth. But still, it takes a brave woman to work sheer lace, a plunging neckline, or sandals in coat-mandatory weather.
Take Cavallari’s pastel shorts ensemble—yes, shorts! The Fabulist host sported the mini-suit (teamed with her own Kristin Cavallari by Chinese Laundry heels) while leaving her hotel between fashion weeks events on Saturday, Feb. 14.
There’s also Kesha‘s peekaboo pink lace look at the Timo Weiland runway event on Thursday, Feb. 12. A teeny Pink Ladies jacket left unzipped over a flimsy blouse could not be doing the trick, even indoors.
Likewise, Hailey Baldwin helped open the Fendi store on Friday, Feb. 13, in a strapless, olive green romper that put her arms, shoulders, and long, lean legs on display in the frigid NYC night.
Chung posed outside of the Alice + Olivia presentation on Monday, Feb. 16, in a short-sleeved crop top paired with a mint green skirt and open-toed shoes.
En route to Badgley Mischka on Tuesday, Feb. 17, Teigen flaunted her assets in a plunging cape that barely covered her sternum, even if she did wisely pair it with pants. And open-toe sandals? Lady, please!
And also on Feb. 17, Ivanka Trump was spotted leaving the Carolina Herrera show in lovely separates—that lilac pencil skirt was divine—but she left her tights and coat at home.
