As Us Weekly's 25 Most Stylish New Yorkers 2011, celebrities like Michelle Trachtenberg, LaLa Vazquez and Taraji P. Henson clearly know a thing or two about fashion. But when Trachtenberg and co. partied at The Dream Downtown in NYC Wednesday, the three fashionistas admitted they haven't always been so style savvy.
"I've had a few fashion mishaps," Trachtenberg, who currently stars in Weeds, said. "They were mostly when I was a kid. I used to wear a lot of crushed velvet and all leopard ensembles. I've now learned that one accessory can pop."
These days, the actress says she's head-over-heels for Marchesa (designers Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman were also honorees). "They bring like 10 dresses over to my house and the first two are always perfect and always fit and never need any alterations," Trachtenberg, 25, said. "I like a seamless fitting."
VH1 reality star LaLa Vazquez, who was honored with her NBA player husband Carmelo Anthony, told Us that sometimes her outfits look more flattering in person.
"All of a sudden everything looks different when it gets photographed. In your mirror at home, you're like, 'This outfit looks great.' Then you look at the pictures the next day and you're like, 'Okay, maybe not,'" Vazquez, 32, shrugged. "We've all had those moments."
Emmy nominee Taraji P. Henson looked fab in a a plunging lace mini, but she admitted it's not easy prepping for high-profile events. "I wore this dress to the Critics' Choice Awards and my boobs were hanging out of it," the actress, 41, recalled. "It was too small up top…I tried it on it the store but it was a different fit out on the carpet."
