No one is here for Miles Teller‘s new look. The Hunger Games actor, 29, debuted a golden-blond hair makeover at the ESPY Awards 2016 at the Microsoft Theater in L.A. on Wednesday, July 13, and Twitter was not impressed.

Teller fans are used to his naturally wavy dark brown locks, which he’s worn in both shaggy and close-cropped styles. But this change was too much for some of his former admirers on social media, who rose up against his dye job — which included bleached brows — with a vengeance.

Not everyone had an adverse reaction, though. There was a small but powerful Twitter contingency that approved of the shade.

Fans speculated (and had their fingers crossed) that the change was just for a role. Although Teller stayed mum on his hair makeover, he did spill on the catalyst for his chiseled bod, which took eight months of dedication: the upcoming boxer flick Bleed for This. “I locked myself away,” the actor told Us Weekly of his process. “Halloween was the only night I drank really in like eight months. I didn’t eat bread for seven months. You have to stay committed. … It’s embarrassing if you’re not in good shape.”
