Name: Carol Alt
Occupation: Supermodel; author of Easy Sexy Raw
Perfect Palette: "Simple, classic and sexy" is how the Queens-bred stunner — once nicknamed The Face for her traffic-stopping beauty — describes her signature style. "I usually dress in some derivative of black and just add splashes of color," says Alt, who has graced hundreds of magazine covers including Vogue, Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue and Harper's Bazaar. She admits that she doesn't like to shop — unless she's with her publicist, Melanie Bonvicino: "I love to watch her at Century 21. She is a sleuth and finds the best pieces!"
Quick Change: "When I was modeling everyday, I needed to be in and out of clothes easily and quickly. So I learned not to do too much excess layering. Simple lingerie, too!" says the 51-year-old raw food expert, whose boyfriend, NHL star Alexei Yashin, likes to bring her on retails runs on 5th Avenue. A recent purchase: A Prada bag small enough to carry on her shoulder but large enough to "hold all my essentials." (Her purse must-haves: organic makeup by RMS beauty and a glass bottle with filtered water.) Get more of her healthy beauty, diet and lifestyle secrets at carolalt.com.
Haute Hiccup: "I have a fab black dress [the designer] Nicola Trussardi gave me," says Alt. "I wore it when I interviewed him for E! Entertainment Television. When I came to him to show him what I was wearing for the interview, he looked at me blankly. I said, 'Nicola, this is your dress.' He looked again, spun around and then looked at the front again and said, 'My dear girl, you have it on backwards!'"
Quote: "You need to use your imagination to create an outfit. The worst thing is when you see someone wearing the outfit that was on the mannequin because they have no imagination!"
