The bold and the beautiful!
After becoming the first plus-size model to score a major contract when she signed with MiLK Model Management UK, Tess Holliday was revealed to be the face of Torrid’s spring 2015 fashion campaign.
Working the camera like a total pro, Holliday, 29, flaunted her full figure in Torrid’s seasonal florals, pastels, and cropped pants. But there’s one unexpected element to the campaign that makes it truly special: No Photoshop or other retouching was used to alter the images, so fans get to see the true Holliday.
The refusal to have her photos retouched is the perfect complement to the rising model’s #effyourbeautystandards campaign, a movement that she started via Instagram in 2013, encouraging both men and women to embrace their body size.
Holliday, who shared that she’s been shopping at Torrid since she was 15 (even though the nearest one was in Atlanta, eight hours from her home in Mississippi!), explained in a behind-the-scenes video that she’s been wanting to work with the popular chain for years.
“Torrid carries clothing that makes you feel that you can be plus-size and sexy and cute,” the Vogue Italia model said. “You can wear what you want to wear and feel good. You can embrace your body and not have to cover it up with bad clothing.”
