She’s got good taste! Spectators across the world are still buzzing about Kate Middleton and Prince William’s new royal baby — and her first outfit! And now, it’s been revealed that Princess Charlotte — 5 days old today, May 7 — received her sweet bonnet, booties, and sweater from her nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo.
According to Spanish newspaper El Diario Vasco, Borrallo’s mother, also named Maria, helped with the special gift, which was purchased from a small Spanish clothing store called Irulea. She contacted the family-owned business and bought the items in person with cash.
Princess Charlotte’s bonnet came in a set with the booties and sweater. At the time of her purchase, Maria’s mother asked for all white or ivory clothes, as the sex of the baby was not known yet. She also requested the items in sizes 0-3 months and 3-6 months.
The Duke and Duchess’ beautiful newborn, fourth in line for the British throne, wore the bonnet inside out at St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, on Saturday, May 2. She was also covered up in a G.H. Hurt & Son shawl. (As previously reported, Prince George’s all-blue outfit for the big reveal came to $277!)
Irulea is located in San Sebastian on the Bay of Biscay in Spain. The sisters who run the chic store had no clue why the purchase was so discreet. After all, Maria didn’t use a credit card in order to keep the purchase under wraps. They only learned that Princess Charlotte wore the adorable outfit when a customer contacted them!
