Met Gala 2016: How to Re-create Saoirse Ronan’s Dramatic Cat-Eye Makeup

Winging it! Saoirse Ronan looked fly at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala 2016 in New York City on Monday, May 2. The Brooklyn actress, 22, donned flattering feathered-eye makeup that was quite fitting for her gown.

Christopher Kane created her custom ivory silk dress that featured pink and black feathers at the neckline and hem. Ronan pinned a 54.75-carat ruby and diamond brooch from Anna Hu Haute Joaillerie to her waist, elevating her look even further.

Ronan’s frock surely influenced Lauren Andersen, the Global Celebrity Makeup Artist for Avon who did the actress’ makeup for fashion’s biggest night. Andersen told Us Weekly that her inspiration was “feathered impact.” She first created a base with Avon Ideal Flawless Foundation ($7.99, avon.com), followed by a few sweeps of Avon Ideal Luminous Blush in Heavenly Pink ($5.99, avon.com) to the apples of the star’s cheeks. Andersen also used pink on Ronan’s eyes, applying a neutral tone on her lids. She then lined Ronan’s baby blues with Avon Mega Effects Liquid Eyeliner ($8, avon.com) to create a dramatic wing, and finished off with Avon Big & Multiplied Volume Mascara ($6.99, avon.com).
