Rob Lowe

Smelling like Rob Lowe is now only a spritz away.

The Grinder star, 51, launched his debut cologne, 18 Amber Wood, on Thursday, March 10. The fragrance, which is part of his men’s grooming line, Profile, has notes of Sicilian bergamot, pepper, fig leaves, sage and cardamom.

When choosing the scent in the lab, Lowe recalled his past experiences, from growing up in the Midwest to moving to L.A. “I told them my memories,” Lowe told Us Weekly. “Like when I came to the West Coast from Ohio as a kid, smelling that California summer night air.”

While he plans to debut a second fragrance later in the year, the West Wing actor considers 18 Amber Wood ($90, shop.nordstrom.com) as the special occasion cologne. “I wanted it to be the kind of fragrance where when you put it on, you know you’re going to something,” he said. “You mean it. It’s the job interview. It’s the date. It’s New Year’s Eve.”

After three years working with the scent, the Californication alum wanted to make sure its name reflected his own life. The “18” comes from Lowe’s age when The Outsiders premiered, which launched his movie career.
