Ryan Lochte Debuts Ice-Blue Hair Just in Time for the Rio Olympics

Ice, ice, baby! In honor of the Rio Olympics, Ryan Lochte debuted a brand-new look: frosty-blue hair.

The competitive swimmer, 31, who boasts 11 Olympic medals to his name, unveiled the shade via an Instagram photo on Sunday, July 31. “New look…. Here We Go #Rio #2016 #turnup #lightblue,” he captioned the snap. He shouted-out his colorist, Jenn Jones.

Before the reveal, Lochte, a natural brunet, teased the makeover with a shot of himself in the chair, bleached blond — and snack in hand. “Me hungry!!” he wrote, but also added “#newlook.”

But as it turns out, the two-time NCAA Swimmer of the Year isn’t the only Team USA member to go blue for the upcoming Olympics. Lochte’s teammate, James Feigen, asked for the same shade of pale blue from the Atlanta-based colorist. “Thanks for trusting me with your Olympic hair @ryanlochte and @jimmyfeigen,” Jones wrote via Instagram. “Now go win some gold medals!!!!”

Lochte and Feigen are headed down to Rio de Janeiro this week, ahead of the international event’s opening ceremony on Friday, August 5. Like the rest of Team USA, the two will be clad in custom uniforms by Ralph Lauren, including tailored blazers, striped shirts, and red, white and blue boat shoes.

The Rio Olympics begin August 5 and will be streamed live on NBCOlympics.com and on the NBC Sports app. The Rio Paralympics begin September 7 and will be streamed live on TeamUSA.org.
