Very fashion forward! Sarah Jessica Parker made a bold statement on the Met Gala red carpet on Monday, May 2 — by wearing pants!

The Sex and the City star stunned in a Monse white top and harem-style pants with a matching coat. The fashionista showed just a sliver of stomach, and she finished the look with bright blue pumps from her shoe line, SJP Collection, and tousled, bedhead hair.

She even practiced walking down her steps at home to break in her shoes before the big night. “Encouraged these @sjpcollection ladies to do a dry run on THESE steps in anticipation of THOSE steps later on. If you know what I mean,” she wrote in a Monday Instagram post.

This year marks the actress’ ninth walk down the Met Gala red carpet. While some thought Parker, 51, nailed the futuristic theme of Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology, others thought it resembled fashion of the past — some Twitter users even compared her to a pirate or a Revolutionary War general.
