MAC Cosmetics has announced its latest inspiration, and it's none other than Selena! The beauty brand is set to launch a capsule collection inspired by the late Latina songstress in 2016, exciting news that was revealed via its Instagram page on Thursday, July 16.
"Selena's talent and beauty, inside and out, have left a colorful, meaningful impact in the world that has continued to grow over the last two decades," MAC Senior Vice President, James Gager, said in a statement. "We have heard the passion and enthusiasm from her fans and wholeheartedly agree that her legacy embodies MAC's philosophy."
While official images of the collection have yet to be revealed, we're sure that it'll be just as bright and beautiful as the "Dreaming of You" singer, who dominated the music scene in the late '80s and early '90s until she was tragically shot to death in 1995. Since then, Selena's been immortalized in countless ways, including with the biopic Selena starring Jennifer Lopez (who paid tribute to the star again this past May at the Billboard Latin Music Awards).
While her immense fan base is surely ecstatic, no one is more excited than Selena's sister Suzette Quintanilla, who helped put the finishing touches on the line. "I am so excited that MAC Cosmetics will be releasing a collection in honor of my sister Selena," Quintanilla shared. "Helping to create this collection brings me back to all those late night conversations on our tour bus when she spoke of having her own makeup line one day."
She added, "If Selena were here she would be beyond ecstatic to have this happening. History is being made."
