See that pointed finger? It’s directing you to a new trend!
Taylor Swift met a group of friends for lunch on Monday, Aug. 10, in L.A.’s Studio City neighborhood and the “Wildest Dreams” songstress was rocking quite the cozy topper for the occasion.
Swift, 25, modeled a white lace TopShop bustier crop top, a mint-green flared skirt, platform Prada heels, and one unexpected accessory: a blush-hued, open-weave sweater cardigan, way more old-school than the rest of her ensemble.
Of course, this isn’t the first time the seven-time Grammy winner has rocked a distinctive style. During her entire Red era (and even before), Swift was often snapped wearing retro threads, including prim dresses, high-waisted bottoms, top-handle purses, and sweet bow headbands.
Then, slowly after her official move to NYC in 2014, the “Blank Space” singer started incorporating trendier pieces into her polished wardrobe, including sexy crop tops, bubblegum pumps, and even the occasional pair of hot pants.
Now, Swift’s giving us the modernized granny sweater, which is a perfect transitional piece from summer into fall. Not that any of us should be surprised, as she’s just landed on Vanity Fair’s latest International Best-Dressed List.
“I think I know how to put together a good outfit,” Swift, who covers VF‘s September issue, told the magazine. “But any day you’re going to admit to being a style icon is a day you need to look in the mirror and really check yourself.”
Swift also shared that while she has a slew of fashionable friends—including model Karlie Kloss and BFF Selena Gomez—she and her ladies rarely discuss clothes. “We never talk about stuff like that,” she said. “We’ll be like, ‘Those shoes are cute.’ That’s the full conversation. We all dress very differently.” (To which friend and model Cara Delevingne added, “There’s always a lot more pressing matters going on than what we’re wearing.”)
