According to a new survey conducted by Dove, the true hero of your beauty bag — the one product that always gives you a confidence boost — is not makeup at all. It's deodorant.

The more than 1,500 women who participated agreed that not only was deodorant a confidence booster, but a step in their morning beauty routine that they would never, ever want to skip. To put it in perspective, the ladies said that antiperspirant was five times more important than washing hair, eight times more important that putting on mascara and 13 times more important than adding lipstick or gloss.
Without deodorant, 87 percent of the women said they felt more self-conscious, while 67 percent said that they made it a point to distance themselves from others. Another 49 percent even admitted that they turned right around and went back home to put it on.

Most notably, more than 70 percent of women agreed that a "beauty" product is one that makes you feel more confident, so deodorant (and anything else that puts an extra spring in your step) absolutely applies.
