Tyra Banks Created Makeup for ‘Chocolate’ Girls to Contour Properly

A sweet deal for the chocolate girls! Tyra Banks’ eponymous cosmetics line includes one very special product: her Sculpt in a Stick Face Contour. The contour stick ($25, tyra.com) is offered in shades from a light café au lait to Deeper Than Deep, an espresso. But aside from its TY-Glide Technology, which ensures seamless application, the Sculpt in a Stick holds a priceless meaning to the supermodel.

“I was tired of our chocolate-toned sisters not being able to contour,” the mom to York, 5 months, with boyfriend Erik Asla, told Essence.com. “I created this so that everyone has the ability to contour and to play with shadow and light — since that’s really what contouring and highlighting is.”

In fact, Banks wanted to make sure that TYRA Beauty, which debuted in 2014, included plenty of products for every feature imaginable (like the new Brow. Set. Match. Dual-Sided Brow Definer and the Lips Like Whoa Plumping Lip Gloss) as well as every shade, too.

"When we have products and colors that we know are targeting the African American demographic, I go insanely deep with it. I want to make sure that we're addressing it right, because I'm the best person in my company to do it,” she continued.

Though Banks has been all about her business lately, she took a break from her venture to address the war of supermodels that began with Rebecca Romijn saying that notables like Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid don’t deserve the title.

“The pain, the struggle, the blood, sweat, fears and tears of past Supermodels is not in vain. We won’t die off like an endangered species,” Banks wrote on her site, beautybank.tyra.com. “Yesterday’s ‘Trinity’ is today’s #Squad. And what we all must remember is that we are stronger together than apart. I hope we can start to act like it.”
