UnREAL and unbelievable style! Shiri Appleby and Constance Zimmer, the stars of Lifetime’s UnREAL, stole the scene at the SAG-AFTRA Foundation Conversations in New York City for a Q&A about the show on Tuesday, June 28. Check out today’s Red Carpet Daily, presented by AT&T, to get a glimpse of their New York City looks.
Thinking pink … and orange too! Appleby, who plays Rachel Goldberg, color-blocked like a pro. The actress, who gave birth to son Owen in December, paired a sleeveless fuchsia Natori tube top with orange pants from the same brand. Silver metallic Sophia Webster pumps added an element of shine to her look.
Zimmer, who plays Quinn King, didn’t feel as bright as her costar. “Losing my mind from lack of sleep,” she captioned a funny photo that afternoon. But who could tell? Her navy blue Bardot dress, speckled with gold diamond-shaped embellishments, glimmered even brighter with the addition of her sparkling Vanessa Lianne rings.
The UnREAL ladies don’t just slay in real life. Us Weekly spoke to the show’s costume designer, Cynthia Summers, about the characters’ aesthetic. The show, based on a fictional reality dating show, involves lots of formal gowns (think rose ceremony–style). But “behind the camera it's a working crew, so it's dark. Everybody is in dark, murky, earth-tone colors," Summers told Us. "You try to be invisible behind the camera."
Appleby’s character has one particular standout accessory: "The sunglasses are her armor. Like everybody when you're not having a great day or you're not feeling superconfident, you put the glasses on," she continued. "She's still really trying to find the inner strength and belief in herself that she can do this new job and that she's actually earned it.”
