Behold one of the most spot-on human-to-cartoon makeup transformations ever. YouTuber Chrisspy has more than 1.5 million subscribers, and when you see her latest tutorial, it’s easy to understand why.
The 29-year-old beauty guru turns herself into the beloved fish Dory, from Disney’s Finding Nemo sequel, Finding Dory, in theaters now.
The video starts off with Chrisspy already in her full makeup, complete with fins attached to her face (really!). “In case you can’t tell, today’s tutorial is going to be on this transformation into Dory,” she begins. “It looks really creepy and scary when I’m talking and my eyes are open, but when I just stay like this [without moving and with my eyes closed], you guys get what I’m doing.”
The makeover itself is complicated. Chrisspy starts off by rubbing a glue stick over her eyebrows, which flattens out their texture, making them disappear under the paint. Next, she hides her tresses by putting on a bald cap.
After creating a blank canvas, the L.A.-based YouTuber draws an outline of the character on her face with a taupe eyeliner. Then, she takes white, blue and navy paint to define Dory’s eyes, face and side. Later, she adds depth by highlighting with white powder and countering with navy eyeshadow to make features like the character’s eyebrows and cheekbones stand out.
For the fish tail, Chrisspy actually just printed out a picture of Dory and bobby-pinned it into her hair. She repeated that with the fins and used liquid latex to secure them to either side of her face.
Aside from turning into the Pixar character, Chrisspy has also used her YouTube channel to showcase her transformations into a werewolf, Yoda and even Buzz Lightyear.
