Just the thought of wearing crop tops as temperatures drop makes Us shiver, but these tiny tees don’t just have to be a summer thing. Demi Lovato and other fashion-forward celebs are rocking them in the fall with narry a goose bump in sight.
Lovato, 23, worked her taught tummy in a sailor-esque double denim outfit as she put on a surprise a cappella-style performance in Times Square on Thursday, Oct. 15. Since the “Confident” singer’s outfit was a heavy denim fabric and she topped it with a camel overcoat, Lovato wasn’t chilled in her stomach-baring ensemble.
It’s easy to not freeze when your crop top only shows a sliver of skin. On Oct. 13, comedienne Sarah Silverman wowed in her black and white splatter pattern, two-piece ensemble with a center slit at the NYC premiere of her movie I Smile Back. Since her shirt was long-sleeved as well, Silverman’s getup was perfect for a formal autumn night.
Not every crop has to be long-sleeved to work for fall. Take a cue from Selena Gomez, who paired an all-knit fabric skirt and crop top on Tuesday, Oct. 13. The knitwear brings an extra-soft vibe to her outfit, as well as providing a bit more warmth — not that she needed it on that sunny day.
Heavy fabrics and long skirts aren’t the only way to do crop tops for fall. Ashley Benson proved that the trend can be worn with a miniskirt and a good pair of tights on Oct. 12 while strolling through the streets of NYC. She wore a long sleeve “Snow Leopard” crop top from RVN, paired with a navy miniskirt and matching navy accessories, including a leather handbag and an oversized blazer-inspired coat.
Lucy Hale showcased her fun side in a cute muscle-tee-style Zuhair Murad crop top with a big black zigzag down the front, which was the perfect graphic touch for New York’s Comic Con on Oct. 9. The “You Sound Good to Me” singer fit right in with her other Pretty Little Liars costars in their fall best.
And Vanessa Hudgens showed Us that the trend isn’t only for red carpets in an edgy yet boho style cropped blouse while out and about in L.A. on Sept. 15. She made her breezy top autumn-appropriate with ripped black skinny jeans, leather boots, a two-toned Celine bag, and a wide-brimmed black hat.
