Beyoncé was once a staple on the Met Gala steps. Now, after 10 years away, she’s making her highly anticipated return.
The “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer made her debut on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City back in 2008. After two years off from the event, she returned in 2011 and became a mainstay for six years in a row.
Beyoncé took a step back from the Met Gala after 2016 as her schedule became busier. However, in December 2025, the Destiny’s Child member was revealed as a co-chair of the 2026 Met Gala alongside Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Anna Wintour. The theme of the event is “Costume Art,” with a clever “Fashion Is Art” dress code for attendees in accordance with the opening of the Condé M. Nast Galleries collection.
