Beauty Influencer Jackie Aina Dishes on Expanding Too Faced's Foundation Range

Meet your match! Beauty influencer Jackie Aina sat down with Stylish to dish on her anticipated collaboration with Too Faced that launched on Tuesday, June 26, and includes 11 more shades of the brand's best-selling Born This Way foundation, making the total number of hues reach an impressive 35. As for why Aina wanted to come on board? The beauty guru explained that she has always been a fan of Too Faced, but also struggled herself to find a quality foundation that matched her skin color. The Foundation Mishaps She's Encountered

"Most of my early 20s, I struggled to find a foundation shade to match my skin tone," she explained. "I would always have to mix, match, contour, and/or highlight to correct it and make it work," she added. "When I was younger, I would wear red colored foundations when i was more golden and I didn't know any better, so I just assumed brown would match," she said.  When she realized that didn't work? "Lancôme and NARS make two of my best shades and I didn't think I could ever get a better match between those two combined, yet somehow I've created one with Born This Way in Chai!," she exclaimed.

How Her Foundation Struggles Affected Her Career

Being an influencer, Aina always has to be camera ready and having to edit her photos due to her foundation not matching made the YouTube star frustrated. "Sometimes the flash on the camera will snitch on you," she told Stylish. "In person it looks amazing, but in photos it may show up casket ready," she dished. While Aina is thankful for FaceTune, she admitted that she didn't want to keep having to edit herself. "It made me feel like, 'Why can't I just find a color that works?' 'Why do I have to fix or adjust this?'," she explained.

How Her Followers Felt the Pain Too

"Throughout my entire YouTube career, my followers have reached out about finding their perfect shades too," she said. "I didn't realize how huge this issue was until I started my channel in 2009," she admitted. And what she thinks they'll love most about this collab? "I adore what these new shades really represent. It's not just about foundation, it's about making people know they are included," Aina added.

Why This Collab Made Sense to Her

"I’ve always loved Too Faced products, but I knew their complexion products needed work," she said. One thing that struck her interest and made her inclined to help? "Too Faced always stood out to me because I felt that they truly believe in influencers and the team there has always known how passionate I am about complexion products and diversity in beauty. They created opportunities to work with me and allowed me to be visible on their platform," she dished. "I thought, 'Now that's brand that is trying to do better and then this partnership happened and I knew I was with the right team," she added.

Her Ultimate Foundation Beauty Secret

When it comes to applying her new beloved foundation, Aina naturally has some tricks up her sleeve. "I always set my primer with translucent setting powder before I do my foundation," she revealed. "It sounds like a hot, cakey mess, but all you have to do is take a damp beauty blender, add a teeny amount of translucent powder to your whole face and then apply foundation," Aina revealed. As for the results? "It creates long-lasting, non greasy magic if you have oily skin like me!," she exclaimed.
