Curls, be gone! Lorde attended the 12th Annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards in NYC on Monday, Nov. 2, and she modeled a major hair makeover for the occasion: shorter, pin-straight tresses.
Days before her 19th birthday, the “Royals” singer arrived at the event (where Amanda Seyfried, Karlie Kloss, and Demi Moore were also in attendance) with the fresh ‘do, teamed with a peekaboo lace dress over pants by Givenchy and pointed-toe heels.
It’s a surprise to see the New Zealand native with anything but coiled locks, as she’s long professed her love for her natural mane, including in a Tumblr post shared just two weeks earlier. “Curly hair is the coolest s—t mama,” Lorde wrote, responding to a curly haired fan who thanked her for giving her confidence. “I love having this halo of hair radiating out from my face the bigger the better!”
That said, Lorde has done a little experimenting in the past. She modeled a slicked-back ponytail at the 2015 Golden Globes, and smooth roots with curled ends at Republic Records’ post-VMAs party this past August.
