Some like it hot! Megan Hilty played sexy blonde bombshell Ivy Lynn on NBC's Smash, and behind the scenes, the 32-year-old actress is just as much a fan of big, over-the-top 'dos inspired by Old Hollywood icons Brigitte Bardot, Grace Kelly and Marilyn Monroe.

"I'm the type of person who has a hard time going to the mailbox or to the grocery store without full hair and makeup," explains Hilty, who modeled three bombshell styles perfect for summer. (June is Blonde Appreciation Month!)

Copy Hilty's breezy summer styles at home using tips from celebrity hairstylist Harry Josh:

Brigitte Bardot-Inspired Bombshell Curls
Like 1960s French film siren Bardot, Hilty oozes sex appeal. "I love playful, sexy hair with volume," she tells Us. Her fine, bimonthly colored hair only needed a spritz of dry shampoo at the crown and back combing to create what NYC stylist Josh calls "a small bump, not a Brigitte beehive." He pinned back the sides, then curled long pieces with a 1/2-inch iron.

Grace Kelly-Inspired Bun
"Because my hair is so processed, it gets frizzy," laments Hilty, who uses John Freida's Everlasting Blonde ($6 each, drugstores) to preserve her shade. Josh's solution: a slick bun in the style of 1950s-era To Catch a Thief star Grace Kelly, with a side part "for edge." Before blow-drying, he treated strands with shine serum (Hilty also gets results from coconut oil). Then he gathered hair in a low pony, divided it in half and twisted sections in opposite directions to form a textured doughnut.

Marilyn Monroe-Inspired Waves
Although she slipped on a wig to star as Marilyn Monroe in Smash's musical, Hilty says the signature style of the 1950s Gentlemen Prefer Blondes sexpot is "perfect for a party." To shave off inches, Josh fashioned a faux bob by wrapping a ponytail with a clear elastic below the nape of the neck, then rolling it underneath to conceal the band and pinning. He curled the top layer horizontally with a 1-inch iron, then brushed it for an "undone" effect.
