Spooning takes on new meaning! As plenty of Instagram beauty lovers can tell you, the "spoon-cut crease" is the latest social media makeup trend. Have no idea what that means? Allow Us to explain.
Spearheaded by beauty blogger Brittney Foley (aka @beautifoles), the spoon-cut crease is a viral hack for creating a two-toned eye using just shadow and a spoon. You start by applying one shade on your lid up to the crease line. You then place a spoon over your lid and swipe your second shade above the spoon. Thanks to the presence of the utensil, the two colors never blend. Plus, the spoon creates a perfectly precise line between the two colors.

"One day when I was applying my eyes hadow, I thought, Cut-creases are everywhere I look. There has to be a way to make this easier for those who don't necessarily have the time or precision to blend out and create a perfect cut crease,'" Foley tells Us. "The next time I did my makeup, I used a spoon during my eye shadow application while filming, posted a quick 15-second tutorial on Instagram and I guess the rest is history! Never in a million years did I think that it would have gone viral."

While Foley shared that she used a plastic spoon — mostly because she wasn't sure how her mother would react to her using a metal spoon for makeup — the Long Island native explains that your choice of spoon "really depends on the individual's eye, and also if they want a round or straight crease. As a guideline, I like to have the outer arch of the spoon be parallel to the tail end of my eyebrow."

If you love Foley's eye makeup trick, here's one more that she shared with Us: tape for the perfect eyeliner. She likes to put a clear piece on the outer corner of her eye, parallel to the inner arch of her brow, before applying shadow and liner so that her lines are straight and the cleanup is minimal. Her secret: "I like to put the tape on the back of my hand first, so that it's not so sticky when I put it on my face."
