Ashlee and Pete's Shocking Split: Early Signs of Trouble

Wedded bliss didn't last very long for Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz.
Although the couple's Wednesday divorce announcement came as a shock to many, insiders saw trouble brewing way back in June 2009 -- when Ashlee, 26, and Pete, 31, were married for a mere 13 months, and prone to explosive blowouts often punctuated by alcohol.

At issue? Balancing their professional and romantic lives with the pressures of parenting an infant son, Bronx, then 7 months.
At the time, the duo fought "constantly," and singer-actress Ashlee was "seriously considering leaving him," one insider said.

Things boiled over at a June 1 party -- where a visibly drunk Ashlee got into a nasty public spat with Michelle Trachtenberg, Pete's ex girlfriend.
Simpson-Wentz was "reverting to drinking and going out, because she is sick and tired of her life," another pal said. The alcohol was "an outlet for her unhappiness, and Pete is getting fed up."
After hanging out in the same social circles for years, the couple got romantic in late 2006 -- and raced to the altar in May 2008, when she was 3-months pregnant.

"Ashlee loves Bronx but jumped into marriage and having a baby too quickly," one pal told Us. "They feel they got trapped in a situation they were too young for."
In Wednesday's statement released by their spokesperson, the couple said: "We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our number one priority."

13They weren't too young. They got knocked up and Papa Joe wasn't about to have his first grandchild be born a bastard so he loaded up his Texas shotgun and told Pete was he had to do. So they "raced" to the alter and they have money so they were able to pull off a real, full wedding in a short time. Ashlee's a horrible singer, Pete hasn't sung in forever (what happened to Fall Out Boy anyway?) he was at his peek in 2006 then just fell off the planet and became Mr. Simpson, bro in law of Jessica. This is just a typical shotgun marriage gone south. There is NOTHING shocking about that. I'm shocked over other shotgun marriages in Hollywood that are STILL together.
I agree with Ginger and Shanin. How were they too young to get married? Too immature, maybe, but it's not like they were in their teens. You want to show commitment to your child? Put away the bottle, clean up your act, go to counseling. In other words, GROW UP!
No shocker here. Sounds like she likes to hit the bottle like her sister does. She'll probably have a new guy every week now too! She was probably jealous of Jess!
i hate when people say They only got married because she was knocked up.My husband & i were married when i was 8 months along.Now 26 yrs 4 kids & 9 grandkids later.We are still happily married.Alot of people have some problems then instead of even trying to work it out they split.every couple has problems but Not everyone just gives up.
Papa Joe probably pushed her to the alter. She was too young and immature. It's too bad for the little one. I just hope she doesn't fall back into the eating disorder.

It all bout the "PR" for celebs apparently their image is more important than being honest. I know all to well about selfish people..im about to divorce my husband because of his selfishness and his infadelity..and my priority is protecting my 4yr old daughter from his mistress!
Ginger, you hit the nail on the head. How convenient to be so deeply committed to your child, but not committed enough to fight to keep his/her family together. Obviously too many people take marriage vows too lightly. Makes me sad because I meant the words I said the night I married my husband. The sanctity of marriage means nothing to most people, so who cares if you are committed to your kids or not.
Too young?? Hello. She was 26 & he was 31. How old do you have to be to have a successful marriage? I don't care if they divorce or stay together BUT they were not too young to get married.

i hate when they say they rushed into things she came out pregnant thats why they got married, if that was the case then they should have used protection or she should have kept her legs closed.... just bc she came out pregnant doesnt mean they had to get married, they just got married to get the attention!!!!
