Exclusive: Chris Brown: Rihanna Assault Was a "Mishap"

Chris Brown is aware of his own infamy.
The singer, 21, is frank with Page Six Magazine (in Thursday's New York Post) about the ongoing fallout from his February 2009 assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna.

"People are always gonna talk. But I'm in a positive place. I consider myself a grown-ass man," says the star, whose new album F.A.M.E. stands for "Forgiving All My Enemies."
Speaking of forgiveness, Brown says he's done apologizing for the brutal Rihanna attack. "At the end of the day," muses the "Forever" singer, "if I walk around apologizing to everybody, I'm gonna look like a damn fool."

A judge recently downgraded a restraining order barring contact between Brown and Rihanna, 23. (Brown is serving five years probation for the crime, and completed court-mandated domestic violence classes plus 180 hours of hard labor last year.)
In the wake of that shocking scandal, Brown says "a handful of people stuck by me," including fellow musicians Pitbull and producer Pharrell Williams.

Still, he complains that many folks "turn[ed] away. They don't want to get involved with it because they don't want their name attached to anything negative. Unknowingly, they kind of show their true colors when they do that."
He doesn't exactly fault those former friends for walking away after the assault -- which he calls a "mishap."

"You can't blame people for how they want to be portrayed or if they don't want to be associated with somebody who had a particular mishap."
"The last two years, everybody dissed me," Brown says. "But my fans were so dedicated. The way I look at it is, you can't walk around mad, because then you just prove everybody right that you're an angry person."
Brown's full interview in Page Six Magazine appears online and in print on Thursday.

Tell Us What You Think
55On the last picture of Rihanna that was shown of her resently you can see that the girl was pure exaggerating on her part look at her ears where the [EXPLETIVE] is the supposed bite mark that she claimed he bit her ear? obviously she doesn't have one and why is there no lacerations on her neck if she was choked? i think rihanna exaggerated her story to make him look more of a monster b.c of his "infidelities" and jealousy. Please tell me where is their a bite mark on her ear as she reported and where is the larcerations on her neck from being choked, where is those two lumps that she had on her head in the very first picture that was released..i don't DV but the damn girl lies like a rug

I like all of you have read more times than I care to mention about Chris Brown and Rihanna. Enough!!! If all of these women would get married first instead of jumping into bed with their boyfriends and then becoming jealous and possesive when they flirt and talk to other women there would be less problems. As for Rihanna, I just don't like her she is a little to raunchy for my money. As the saying goes, there are three sides to a story, his, her, and the truth. Which we will probably never know. So people let it alone. They will end up back together regardless of what went down. As I said, enough and enough said.
People hate to here the true smh ha lmao
she lied on diane sawyer. Diane sawyer asked her if there was any drinking involved she said NO yet she can be seen in pictures drinking wine. Diane Sawyer asked her if she hit him she said no but told the police she did. Diane Sawyer asked her she was choked unconscious she said she never lost consciousness but told police she did. She told police he threw her phone out the window why was it never reported if that phone was recovered at the scene or on another street? Because Chris never threw her phone out of the window. She said chris had her in a headlock in the car and repeatedly beat her that would mean since she was a passenger he would have had his right arm around her in the vehicle while driving pulling her towards him and punching repeatedly while driving at highspeed that would indicate markings to the left side of her face not her right. There is a reason why Chris isnt saying what happened that night because that would ruin rihanna. who is not to say that rihanna inflicted those injuries in front of chris and chris decided to take the blame for something he really didn't do? Yet u make rihanna to be a saint yet she has the history of violence towards men with that being said she had to hit him first since she admitted to smack chris numerous times. If rihanna was beaten in the car and she was in her fetal position all injuries would be to the left and not to the right. please think logically and analytically its also common [EXPLETIVE] sense
CHRIS HAS ACCEPTED HIS RESPONSIBILITIES AND HIS ACTIONS. HE KNOWS WHAT HE DID WAS WRONG. HE IS PAYING HIS DUES TO SOCIETY. HE IS NOT A DANGER UNLIKE THE MURDERERS AND RAPIST/SEX OFFENDERS ROAMING UR NEIGHBORHOOD THOSE PEOPLE NEED TO BE LOCKED UP. RIHANNA IS NOT THE VICTIM SHE IS THE AGRESSOR AND THE INSTIGATOR IN ALL OF THIS. SHE ADMITTED TO HITTING HIM NUMEROUS TIMES AND ADMITTED TO HITTING HIM IN THE CAR. YET U DON'T SAY THAT ITS INHUMANE FOR RIHANNA TO BEAT UP A MAN. RIHANNA HAS A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE TOWARDS PEOPLE YET U THINK ITS ACCEPTABLE AND HUMANE RIGHT? LET ME GIVE U SOME INSIDE OF RIHANNA AND HER VIOLENT BEHAVIOR AND HER TEMPER. SHE SMASHED A GLASS BOTTLE IN HER LITTLE BROTHERS FACE WHO IS (4 AND 1/2 YRS YOUNGER THAN HER), SHE HAD TO BE RESTRAINED BY CHRIS IN A CLUB BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO BEAT SOME GIRL FOR TALKING TO CHRIS, SHE THREW A VIOLENT TANTRUM AT A FAMILY GATHERINGS/WEDDING, WAS BANNED FROM HOTELS FOR SMOKING WEED, SHE HAS LIED ON A LEGAL DOCUMENT AS WELL AS ON NATIONAL TELEVISION, SHE HAS AN ALCOHOL AND DRUG PROBLEM, AND SHE ALSO LIED ABOUT HAVING HERPES. (WHICH LYING AND/OR NOT MENTIONING IT TO SOMEONE ABOUT HAVING AN STD IS A CRIME PUNISHABLE BY LAW AND MANY YEARS IN PRISON) THAT IS ALSO INHUMANE.
@Yuli Sergeivich you are so stupid!!! vagena head
"So I said "if you text that person one more time"... And she did. So she ran into my fist. She rain into my fist six times"
The real page six article came out and guess what? there was nothing in there were he said the incident was a"mishap". He used the "mishap" quote as a general statement. smh! At you people jumping to conclusion and not even correcting your article. What a sad excuse for journalism.
but why do he have to keep apologizing to everybody? i think that people need to get over it and move the hell on. rihanna is not sweating it, that girl had move on with her life. im sure that she got all the attention that she need, nobody didnt know who she was after that whole thing that went down with her and chris. so people need to stop acting like they know her personal.
If he acted at all like he was sorry for what he did then I might be willing to say "Ok, he lost his temper but I think he might have learned his lesson" but he doesn't act like he is sorry and furthermore he acts like it was just no big deal. Give me a break. Don't call yourself a "grown ass man" if you think apologizing for doing something wrong makes you look like a fool, because a REAL man CAN and WILL apologize when they do something wrong. And all of you people who are defending him are as stupid and clueless if not MORE clueless than he is, and the women should maybe have their asses beat one good time like he did to her, then you might see things differently.
He would not be in jail if he was a regular person for beating up a girl once. My DAD was beat unconscious by an ex, and she didn't go to jail. NOTHING EVEN HAPPENED TO HER. Explain that one.
I hope a bus or a train hits this looser.
Reading some of these comments just makes me incredibly sad. When someone starts to list out the things a victim of assault has done wrong to provoke or encourage an attack, even if they add a disclaimer of "not that I'm saying she was asking for it...", that's exactly what you're saying. The truth is that he didn't just hit her (which would be bad enough), he Beat. Her. Up. If he had been a "regular" person, he would have been in jail and my thought is that he should have been in jail. So that in itself is sad, another celebrity behaving badly without proper consequences. What's worse though are these women who continue to support him and make excuses for him, which says a lot more about themselves than it does about some overproduced, generic singer. The fact that other celebrities do it doesn't make it okay, the fact that she hit her brother in the past doesn't make it okay, and the fact that he gave some rehearsed apology and then pouted about people being mad at him doesn't make him sorry. Even little kids know to say sorry when they're in trouble, but it doesn't mean that they know what it means. So for all the women that have gotten all up in arms over people still holding him accountable for both what he did and the way he has chosen to go on record about it, try putting that energy into standing up for abuse victims and not their victimizers... because the truth is, I think you're incredibly ignorant, but I would never use that as an excuse for someone mistreating you.
Chris can say whatever he wants but it will never change the fact that he's an abusive a-hole.
He has moved on but the MEDIA hasn't. As long as the MEDIA keeps asking questions about it and asking what he learned from it than he will answer those questions and has every right to answer them. He is merely stating that he has grown since then and does not feel that he should have to keep saying he is sorry 2 years down the road.
He shouldn't have to keep apologizing bc it is done and over with. the ONLY person that deserved an apology was the person he hit and obviously she has forgiven him. I am not a fan of his but he made a mistake, he has taken responsibility for his actions AND he suffered the consequences of those actions in an adult manner. That being said it is time to drop it and move on.
leave chris brown alone, he has the right to speak his d@mn mind. he was just letting most of the people that who is haters, is that he is not going to keep apologizing all the time. chris know that he has already been forgiving. it is also strange that some of you are commenting on chris page and calling him a abuser, when i see that some of you are fans of charlie sheen. im sure thats alot of you all forgive charlie. but why not chris brown?
Chris is good. He's always been real about the way he feels, And i appreciate that. I find it Ignorant and Offensive that "Whites" can screw up mutliple times and get their career back but, Chris messes up ONCE when he's 19 and cant move on with life. The situation was 2 years ago and yet we dont know NOTHING. We try to puzzle up the pieces but I never believed those pieces were all fact. Chris Brown is the best entertainer we've see since MJ. On top of that, He's clearly humble,Mature and I feel like he's had to transition into a "Grown-ass man" way too early. He's on 21 yall...Let the man Be great. I'm getting his next album F.A.M.E..People trying to bring him down need to take a Look in the Mirror. "God Doesnt Like Ugly, Isn't crazy about Pretty, So just try to Be/Say/Do Good" I'M ROOTIN FOR YA CHRIS!
Seriously Chris Brown? Heres a thought.... why dont YOU stop talking about it??? YAWN.... grow a pair and move on and maybe if you stop playing the victim and bringing the whole situation up YET AGAIN we can all move on......you cant change peoples perception of you but sounding like a whinging beyatch eveytime it comes up in the papers just makes you look stupid....Rhiannas moved on from it maybe you should too....just saying
